Beech Class

Beech Class is a mixed Year 2 and Year 3 class, where children support each other to learn, grow and flourish as individuals. We have very high expectations in Beech Class and strive to be the best learners we can be across the whole curriculum, whether that is in Maths, English or our wider curriculum subjects. We will use our Gem Powers to help us persevere, ask for help, bounce back from disappointment and defeat those monster distractions!

In English, we will be focusing on books from different genres, using them to inspire and develop our reading and writing.

This year (2026-2027) we will be learning more about some of the following:

 Science:

• Light
• Plants
• Living things and their habitats   
• Animals including humans
• Everyday materials

 History:

• Flight through time
• A study about a significant person – Rosa Parks
• Significant historical event and place – SS Great Britain

 Geography:        

• Place knowledge – focusing on Canada
• Mountains
• Geographical skills & fieldwork

 Art and DT:

• Food and healthy living
• Templates and Joinings
• Shell structures
• Painting
• 3D Art

We look forward to seeing what this year has in store for us and are ready to get going with some hands on learning experiences.
